Nevada Air Guard holds first ever Senior NCO conference

CARSON CITY-The Nevada Air National Guard held its premiere Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Conference on April 8. The one day event was held in the dining facility on the Reno air base with nearly 130 attended.

Chief Master Sgt. Rick Scurry, the state command chief, hosted the event designed to expand the senior NCO's professional growth and knowledge.

"The conference was a way to help establish and maintain a spirit of comradeship and esprit de corps," Scurry said. "This will enhance the prestige of all of our senior NCOs, encourage an attitude of unified purpose and set an example for all enlisted personnel according to the standards, traditions and customs of the United States Air Force and Air National Guard."

Numerous speakers presented topics on a variety of subjects, including family readiness, professional organizations and veteran services. Senior Guard speakers included Col. Terry Fornof, the commander of the Nevada Air National Guard, Col. Dave Snyder, the commander of the 152d Airlift Wing and Command Sgt. Maj. Steve Sitton, The senior enlisted leader of the Nevada National Guard.
