Colonel Jason L. Sander

Colonel Jason L. Sander is the 152nd Maintenance Group Commander at the Nevada Air National Guard Base, Reno, Nev. He is responsible for directing all aircraft and equipment maintenance support for eight assigned C-130H aircraft as well as the quality and quantity of training for all assigned personnel. Col. Sander ensures personnel, aircraft, and equipment are mission ready to deploy world-wide in support of Wing taskings in peacetime and during combat operations.

Col. Sander earned his commission from the University of Washington Reserve Officer Training Corps in June 2001 and completed the Aircraft Maintenance and Munitions Officer Course that same year. He served six years in the Active Duty Air Force in a variety of key positions, including: Accessories and Avionics Flight Commander, Quality Assurance Officer in Charge, and Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer in Charge. He joined the Washington Air National Guard in 2007, where he served as the Quality Assurance Officer in Charge, the Director of Operations for the 336th Training Support Squadron at the USAF SERE School, and Commander, 141st Maintenance Operations Flight. In 2013, Col. Sander was hand-selected to work on the National Commission on the Structure of the Air Force providing research and analysis for hearing material and the final report to Congress. In 2014, he was selected as the Director of the Commander’s Action Group, and later, the Executive Assistant to the Commander, at Continental North American Aerospace Defense Region (First Air Force - Air Forces Northern), Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. In 2016, he took command of the 187th Maintenance Squadron at Dannelly Field in Montgomery, Ala., where he fostered a culture of respect, compliance, and maintenance discipline for over 250 personnel from numerous career fields. Col. Sander was directly responsible for the execution of a $7M budget for military personnel as well as operations and maintenance funds for the largest squadron in the Alabama Air National Guard. Following command, Col Sander transitioned to the Joint Staff working in the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, National Military Command Center. He was responsible for strategic communications to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs regarding the Chairman’s Critical Information Requirements and served as a critical link between the White House Situation Room, National Security Council, and the Joint Staff for electronic Washington Area Secure High-Speed (eWASH) communications. Col. Sander was then selected to stand up the first-ever Joint Staff Battle Rhythm Management Team, where he was directly responsible to the Vice Director of the Joint Staff for the design, presentation, and management of the Joint Staff Battle Rhythm. He managed all Joint Staff events ensuring synchronization of information and meetings between the Chairman and Combatant Commanders.

Prior to his current assignment, Col. Sander was a student at The Eisenhower School, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C.
