Tech. Sgt. Nichole raised over $300.00 in support of her unit’s Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) fund by taking bids and ideas for a new haircut on May 11, 2018 at Nevada Air National Air Guard base here in Reno.  The winning bidder got to select the hairstyle and wanted her to cut her hair down to a ¼ inch—within the Air Force regulations for female haircuts.

“I was going to cut my hair anyway and the crew that I work with was giving me tips on which haircuts I should choose and our lieutenant said, ‘Why not turn it into a fund raiser?’ I told them that the highest bidder could pick any hairstyle they wanted (within Air Force regulations), and the ¼ inch cut was the winning style.”

Tech. Sgt. Kristine had the honor of performing the haircut. She cut foot-long ponytails off the top and back of Nichole’s head, which Nichole donated to “Locks of Love.” Kristine then proceeded to cut Nichole’s remaining hair down to a ¼ inch. The chief of the unit even tried to talk her into not cutting it all down to ¼ inch. He offered to put more money in the fund and then was told the bidding had closed.

At the end of the cut, after she had viewed the new ‘do’ her reaction was, “It doesn’t look as bad as I thought, so, I’m okay.”
