RENO, Nev. -- Nevada Air National Guard’s 192nd Airlift Squadron and 152nd Operations Support Squadron participates in joint exercise with U.S. Navy and Nevada Army National Guard
RENO, Nev. (April 26, 2019) – Aircrew and two C-130s from the 152nd Airlift Wing’s 192nd Airlift Squadron (192AS) and 152nd Operations Support Squadron from Reno, Nev. provided support to the Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) in Fallon Nev. by participating in Exercise Resolute Hunter April 25 to 26 at the Naval Air Station Fallon Range Training Complex (FRTC).
Capt. Kyle Carraher, a pilot from the 192nd AS, said, “The 152nd Operations Group had the opportunity to test and hone our skills against enemy threat systems, practice aggressive low level flying, and receive critical feedback, in real time, on our performance.” The 192nd AS aircrew provided support by acting as enemy aircraft and attempting to go undetected while flying through areas within the exercise.
The exercise was a joint effort between Navy, Air Force, and Nevada National Guard. Many aircraft were involved including C-130 Hercules from the 152nd Airlift Wing, and CH-47 Chinook Singulars from the B Company, 1/189th General Support Aviation.
“Seeing how other units operate and seeing where the C-130 fits into the joint fight is exciting,” said Carraher.
The Naval Air Station FRTC encompasses Naval Air Station Fallon and near-by range training areas, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rights-of-way, and 13,000 square miles of Special Use Airspace (SUA).
“This was our unit’s first experience entering the training complex, and as such we were able to receive some world-class training against the enemy threat systems and take our aviators to a new level of training,” said Carraher. “The Airmen that participated in this exercise have gained a new level of knowledge that can be shared with others in the squadron and community.”
