Friday, 5 Aug. 2011 marked an evening filled with families, friends, and baseball. The Reno Aces hosted their "Military Appreciation Night" on Friday at the Aces Ballpark. Uniforms of various service branches, ABUs, ACUs, "Khakis," and "Navy Whites" were all visible in the crowd.

Prior to the start of the game, several activities honoring Nevada military members occurred: new Nevada Air National Guard enlistees participated in a "swearing in" ceremony conducted by Nevada Adjutant General Brig. Gen. William Burks; the Airman, NCO, and Senior NCO of the year were recognized, and Capt. Melissa Beauchamp sang the national anthem.

To finish the evening on an even better note, the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, defeated the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
