Halloween arrives at the Reno Air Base Published Oct. 28, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Mike Getten Joint Force Headquarters Public Affairs RENO -- Costume-clad children dressed as Ninjas squared off in an arena marked by pumpkins while witches, scary clowns and a plastic Soldier invaded the Sierra Air National Guard Association's building during the Nevada Guard's annual Halloween Family Party here at the Air National Guard on Friday. The annual event hosted by SANGA and Family Programs attracted about 500 children this year. Unseasonably warm weather held out for the evening and allowed many of the trick-or-treaters to stay out until the party concluded at 9 p.m. Many of the respective squadrons on the base decorated their buildings based on themes including a zombie lair and pirate island. As the children filed through the "haunted halls," they were treated to scares, tricks - and some treats - by the volunteers.
